This morning the kids and I went up to the Academy. Once a year the spouses provide brunch for the department. Even though Steve is gone, I wouldn't miss being there. It's always fun.
This is one of the signs of Steve that is up in the Mechanical Engineering Lab. For the past year Steve had been the Director of the Lab. The most important responsibility is ensuring that everyone and everything is safe. It's a big task. They took a picture that Steve sent them his training in New Jersey. They had it blown up and mounted on a board. It's hard to read but it says "300 out of 300 Keep my lab safe and clean....Maj Steve Hendricks"
The Department gave us this huge picture to take home. It is 40 in x 30 in! The kids brought it to the dinner table tonight and set it on a chair. Too bad the sign doesn't read "I'M WATCHING YOU!" And too bad I couldn't convince the kids it was true. Thank you DFEM
It was so good to see our friends and Steve's colleagues. He works with great men and women and we fell so blessed to be apart of such a great organization. They are like family.
The kids enjoyed eating, flying a helicopter, touring around with Mike and convincing him to give them candy, wandering through Steve's old office and wondering where all his things were, playing with a mini robot that the cadets built and playing with the other kids. It was good for us to be there today, we've missed our visits. And now Steve knows he's can still have a lasting influence on the lab, if anything, he can be the source of a few laughs!

Awesome! I love the safety sign! That was so sweet of them to give you one.
You can also go to flatdaddies.com and they will send you a BIG, free picture of your hubby pasted onto a cardboard backing. That way the kids can take him to church or eat dinner with him or whatever. We have more than a few kids in our ward that take their flat daddies to church on sundays.
It was so great to see you at the brunch and I look forward to having more time to chat on Friday!
