Update

I haven't abandoned my blog, I promise. The past 2 weeks have been nonstop of anything and everything. Ask me the date, I have no idea. Ask me what's next to do, I can choose from way too much. Ask me what's for dinner, look in the freezer or pantry. Ask me how I am, I may say good or I may start to cry. Ask me how much longer until Steve leaves, too soon.

Things are in turbo speed around here. I can't believe only 2 more weeks together. As I am sitting here I can hear the laughter of 3 little kids and their daddy wrestling. Then I hear Steve break out into a made up song about loving Preston, Taylor and Mason. Wish I had my video camera.

The closer it gets, the harder it gets. The more I wish we had more time, the more I think about the good bye, the more I think about how the "to do's" will be here in 2 weeks but Steve won't.

This whole experience has brought a new perspective to my life. I am so thankful for this wonderful country that we live in and for the freedoms that are ours and that I take for granite everyday. We pray for our soldiers every night and for their loved ones that are apart from them. Now we will pray for our dad and husband and will pray for his safe return. We know we will be blessed and are so proud of Steve.

Now off to go join on the fun I seem to be missing out on! More to come hopefully soon.

Go be with your family. We'll be here in two weeks too. Blogs can wait, deployments don't. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) you think things will slow down after he's gone - but actually life gets busier.

We look at it with a different lens. Our son-in-law is going to Iraq for an extremely important and necessary assignment to help others to enjoy the life that he has. We get caught in the fallout because we get to help him by having our daughter and 3 of our our grandchildren here for a while, doing what he's going to Iraq for. Blessings come in different forms. What do we learn? More gratitude for a greater power, deeper love for our families, appreciation for those willing to give so much for others, the lsit goes on and on. The Hendricks' familt will be fine. Many blessings on their behalf are being offered - even here in Hacienda Heights, CA.

I just read you are coming to Cali. When?? I totally want to plan a time, even if for a couple of hours. I know you will be super busy but it would be fun! I also need your phone number. I don't have your new one. Can you email it to me? Tell steve I said hi. I hope you are staying strong!

The only thing that comes to mind is I love you and I will always be here for you and your kids. I love Steve and know he will be blessed with safety. You have a special family and everyone loves you where ever you go. There are gonna be thoughts, prayers, and letters all over for Steve and your family. I love you Jodie!! Ever since I was little, I have always been able to cry to you. Now its the little sister's turn to help the big sister!! I love you!!!!

I wish you could be here! And your parents have a lot of great "in with the good, out with the bad" in their comment.

Before my husband left we made vidoes of him playing with the kids, reading stories to the kids, and wrestling with the kids. When he left I would play these vidoes over and over again for the kids. It helped them remember their Daddy and let them know Daddy loved them.

This is a crazy, bittersweet time for you. Try to enjoy the time you have left together as much as you can.

Cute blog! And even a cuter family! Sorry to hear about that. But it looks like your mom, sis and friends have good sound advice...hang in there.

Hey Jody this is Nichole, Becky's FABULOUS & FAVORITE FRIEND aka BFFF! He he he! Anyway, I had to stalk you on the web! I need some binky clips...like the ones you made Tylie. The ones at the store are lame because they break all the time. Basically I am going insane searching for lost binkis for my twins. The wire on my cute beaded ones broke for the 2nd time! Anyway do you make those anymore? I need to order one for "Carter" and "Malia" I REALLY hope you are still making those....I am desperate. Let me know if you have ANY time with all the stuff that is going on righ tnow?

Ummmm...I wish you could go back and edit your own comments...My random comment sounds so insensitive. I just read your blog and now I am realizing you have alot on your plate. Maybe when you have time you can tell Becky or me how you make those binky clips. Good luck getting ready for the big departure. Hang in their!

Thanks for the replies. Tobi, I am so using your idea about the video tape. Another friend was telling me that she video taped her husband reading a new book for every week he was gone. It was like a count down of weeks.
And Mandy, I am glad life will stay busy for us military wives. I am hoping it will help make time go by quickly. To my family, I can't wait to see you all soon. Nicole, Becky knows how to make the pacifier clips. I can remind her if not. Vicki, I will email you my cell phone # so we can hook up in CA. Rachael, wish I could be there too!

Steve-O you are the man. You have been my idol since I met you and you just continue to raise the bar. Jodie could not have chosen a better man to spend the rest of her life with. If the world had more men like you it would be a hell of a lot better place.
